No docs were included in the release nor was there any info in the FAQ. Duncan, This sort of problem has led us to write a FreeBSD FAQ, the first draft of which may be gotten from freebsd.cdrom.com:~ftp/pub/FreeBSD/FAQ We'll also be shipping it out with the imminent FreeBSD 1.1 release. I'm sorry to say that this FAQ is targetted at 1.1 onwards, and can only ask that the 1.0 folks have a little patience and perhaps upgrade when they're given the chance, which will indeed be very soon. If I can figure out a way to merge 1.0.2 information into the 1.1 FAQ without making it really confusing, I most certainly will, but do realize that our efforts are most constructively channeled towards current code.
