Hello all.

I'm installing NetBSD 0.9 and I am getting a LOT of strayintr 7's on my
system which lock the system up on me. (Locks out the HD (IRQ 14)).

I've read the FAQ, it says to ignore them. I can't, one hit (I get one
every few minutes) and my system is gone. If I get one during the
bootup, my system locks up. If I manage to boot, and get one later, it
locks out my SCSI controller which eventually times out, and the system
reboots.

As the FAQ suggests, I implemented the lpt (and lpa's) drivers to see
about it trapping the IRQ 7s. The driver shows up during bootup, on
INT 7, but I still get strayintr 7 and lockups a few seconds later.

I'm out of ideas, so I am turning to you.

Here are the particulars on my system.

486-66VL, 256K cache. I don't know who's motherboard it is, but there is
a chip labeled PC CHIP. The machine is sold by a Canadian company
called IPC. It has a AMI Bios, 11/11/92. The system is just over 7
months old.

I have a UltraStor 34F SCSI controller with 1 HD on the system right now
(A Maxtor 7245s). I also have a ATI GUP Pro VL with 2 megs of VRAM.

I am using a WD SMC Combo card, with thin ethernet connected. If I can
boot the system up, the ethernet does work.

The only other card in the system is a Multi I/O card with 2s, 1p, 1g,
floppy and IDE. Everything is disabled except the 1p, and floppy. I
have tried an alternate Multi I/O card with the same results.

I've run both DOS and OS/2 2.1 on this system.

Any solutions?

I have no problems with converting to NetBSD-current, or FreeBSD or
Linux IF one of them will fix this problem. I would perfer to stick
with the NetBSD OS though.

Thanks.
