It's not working, and I'd appreciate a hint as to why. I have a Seagate 11200N SCSI 1.050 GB drive with a Adaptec 1542C controller. I made the boot disk, and all seemed fine, it booted OK. I took all the defaults after telling it what kind of controller, and the disk defaults seemed OK. I had a pre-existing 200MB DOS partition, and it found it fine. It warned me that since I had more than 1000 cylinders, I might have problems. I told it to go ahead anyway, and install using the whole rest of the disk (not to overwrite the DOS partition). It got busy, so I wandered away. I came back 20 minutes later, and the machine had instigated its own reboot, for reasons I dunno, and stopped. I control-^C'ed out of the shell and HALTed it, then rebooted, just to check if DOS was still healthy. It wasn't, the machine complained it had no operating system at all. I rebooted from the floppy, and the floppy code correctly found the existing FreeBSD partition, but wanted to install FreeBSD in an even higher partition, which there wasn't anymore. Anyone know what's up? I won't be able to read this again until Tuesday afternoon. Thanks for any and all help. -- Chuck Robey | Interests include any kind of voice or data chuckr@eng.umd.edu | communications topic, C programming, and Unix. 7608 Topton St. | New Carrollton, MD 20784 | (301) 459-2316 | ----------------------------+-----------------------------------------------
