It is not yet finished, but this part is at least working quite stable, so I released it to the public because "everybody" asked for something like this. Features: termcap-like configuration file to define keyboard mappings. Allows ANY to ANY mapping (may overload really any key) ALT-Keypad support (allows entering any ASCII code) Typematic (key repetition) rate and delay configurable This version is currently incompatible with X11 (these guys couldn't wait and apparently didn't ask at least Bill, who knew of this development, so they reinvented the wheel). The next version will support /dev/kbd and /dev/vga as well. This version is for 386bsd 0.1 only and only supports keyboards which can emit AT scan codes (101/102 keys MF1/MF2 keyboards). There is no longer support for XT keyboards (if there was any at all). The keycap data base is quite empty for the moment, so if you have a non-US keyboard, you have to write an entry for yourself. If you have done so, please send this key map entry to me, so that I can include it in future versions. Please send mappings for the unmodified keyboard only, not your favorite map which has all keys overloaded with "the most important unix/shell/editor commands" for instance. Read the README files in the package for instructions. I have loaded the package to my closest ftp server, this is ftp.uni-duisburg.de (134.91.4.132) in /pub/unix/386bsd-0.1/unofficial/keycap-0.1.0.tar.Z (Unfortunately, I didn't get any connection to agate.berkeley.edu for now). Send suggestions, key maps and bug-reports to veit@du9ds3.uni-duisburg.de Good luck -- | | / Holger Veit | INTERNET: veit@du9ds3.uni-duisburg.de |__| / University of Duisburg | BITNET: veit%du9ds3.uni-duisburg.de@UNIDO | | / Dept. of Electr.
