I'm looking to hear about people's experiences, good and bad, with an
amtron motherboard (OPTI chipset, intel 486dx2-66), cirrus 5428 video
adapter, and/or a shamrock 14" hh.28 monitor - with both Linux and
NetBSD.

How's XFree86 2.1 working with the recent cirrus stuff? Any problems
using a 5428 with over 1M - I'm planning for 1M now, but may want more
later. Does anyone have a set of xstones (or similar) benchmarks for
various pc video adapters? Regardless, how does a 5428 stack up, in
terms of price/performance (especially, say, compared to an S3 928)?

Any problems, say, with dma'ing above the 16M mark with the OPTI
board? Should I anticipate any trouble using it with an old 1540b, or
an older WD 2:1 MFM controller for my floppy drive?

In short, I'm trying to figure out why this system is only 60% of the
cost I was quoted at a another, much busier, local shop...
