I just installed FreeBSD 1.1-GAMMA. I went to use my Mitsumi CD-ROM and
was told that mcd0 was not configured (BTW: what is the difference
between mcd0a and mcd0d?) Also, I get /dev/ft0 is not configured. How
do I configure these devices?

Also, are new users automatically added to the mail system or am I
missing a config file somewhere? I added a new user to the system (The
only one...It's a stand-alone PC...no network), but I still can't get
mail to anyone but root.

Oh, and I keep getting "wakko.marc.i.com: connection refused" errors
with various applications. How do I give my machine access to itself?
My sysadmin book does not touch on any of these.

Since my sysadmin book is obviously lacking, could people suggest some
good sysadmin books (preferably ones that would apply to FreeBSD). The
one I have is Essential System Administration by AEleen Frisch (O'Reilly
& Associates). Thanks in advance. email is preferred, but posting is
fine as well.
