I performed an install of the 1.1-RELEASE on a fresh machine that had never
seen 1.0. During the extraction of the files bin_tgz.??, there was a core dump
when tar attempted to write the file /usr/lib/libc.so.1.0. The file in
/usr/lib was incomplete, so utilities which require it would not run.

I reinstalled from the three floppies; and this time, I extracted the
bin_tgz.?? files by hand. I included the command line option '--exclude
usr/lib/libc.so.1.0' to tar so that it would skip this file on extraction.
Everything came together, there was no core dump, and things appear to be
working quite fine.

Suggestion: Remove libc.so.1.0 from the bin_tgz distribution set, or include a
tar which is statically linked on the filesystem or cpio floppies...

FreeBSD Team: Thanks for the great work. This has come a long way from 386BSD
0.0... I am looking forward to your future releases...
