WHAT:     An Introduction to Software Internationalization and Localization
 
     Our speakers.will present a talk based on their recent book
     "Software Internationalization and Localization,  An Introduction."  
     Basic aspects of designing and implementing software for the world 
     market will be presented including logistics, common problems
     and how to address quality assurance.
     
WHO:      Emmanuel Uren, Consultant, Author;
          Robert Howard, Consultant, Author; and
          Tiziana Perinotti, International Product Marketing Manager 
               at Verity, Author
      
     Emmanuel Uren, who describes himself as an Anglo-Maltese, attended 
     Manchester University,  Yale and Stanford.  He has lived and worked 
     in England, Quebec,  Venezuela, Mexico and the U.S.  During the last 25
     years he has  worked as a consultant in various software issues 
     including software  internationalization and localization which brings 
     together his  computer experience and his interest in natural languages.
     Most recently he worked with Spinnaker/PowerUp! and with World Ready  
     Software on various internationalization projects.
     
     Robert Howard is an independent computer consultant in the San Francisco
     Bay Area.   A graduate of the University of Sussex, he has  a long 
     standing interest in information systems as a tool to enable  cross 
     cultural communications.  As a Quality Assurance specialist, he  has 
     worked on systems ranging from early MS-DOS equipment to  the latest 
     pen-based systems. He is currently working with cc-Mail/Lotus in the 
     Quality Engineering department.
     
     Tiziana Perinotti has a certificate in Computer Science and a Master's
     degree in Linguistics from the University of Turin in her native Italy.
     She has worked on localization issues since 1985, when she joined 
     Olivetti.  She has worked for companies in the United States and abroad,
     including Microsoft Corporation where she was a Localization Product
     specialist.  She is currently International Product Marketing Manager 
     at Verity in Mountain View.

WHERE:  Sun Microsystems Bldg 6, 2750 Coast Avenue, Mountain View
          Coast Ave appears to be just a driveway next to Bldg 5 on 
          Garcia Ave between Amphitheatre Pkwy and San Antonio, so don't 
          get confused.
