  Huh?  There is nothing unique about the commands it uses.  READ/WRITE
of char streams that contain the escape sequences documented in the SCL
manual is all you need.  The scanner reports itself as a PROCESSOR device
as I recall and you just need to issue READ/WRITE scsi calls to it.
The SCL manual is freely available from HP and the DOS libraries that
came with it ported without problems.

  Of course you will have to write the applications to actually do something
with the scanner.  I started with the PBMPlus package and wrote a scanjet
too PPM convert in about an hour or so.

  This isn't at tough as everyone thinks.  HP has done most of the work
with the SCL libraries and making sure the scanjet used standard scsi cmds.
