I dont know if NetBSD uses syscons >or not.. NetBSD-current includes pcvt in the standard system now. You'll have to config it in and change your ttys file to make it work, however. Pcvt provides *text* terminal screen blanking. You use scon to control pcvt options if you have pcvt installed. Man scon and pcvt for details (if you've installed pcvt). Also, look in /sys/arch/i386/isa/pcvt/doc for details on setting up pcvt. XFree86-2.x provides graphics screen blanking right in the X-server.
