It was driving me nuts because my system had survived many OS upgrades. At any rate, I called adaptec and explained to them my problem they agree to replace my adaptec controller at no no cost. I also replaced my scsi II cables with shielded scsi two cables. My configuration is: dat drive (external) toshiba 1.2gb disk (external) toshiba 3401 cdrom (internal) My controller even works on my P66. I started out on a 486DX33. Have not had a scsi problem in a long, long time now Good Luck, Amancio -- FREE unix, gcc, tcp/ip, X, open-look, netaudio, tcl/tk, MIME, midi, sound at freebsd.cdrom.com:/pub/FreeBSD Amancio Hasty, Consultant | Home: (415) 495-3046 | e-mail hasty@netcom.com | ftp-site depository of all my work: | sunvis.rtpnc.epa.gov:/pub/386bsd/X
