The : mcd driver has many ioctl's which are not implemented (EJECT being : one of them ;(). This prolly contributes to the problem of xcdplayer The last time I looked at the driver (I was one of the authors) most of the SCSI compatible audio ioctls were implemented, as far as they were possible (e.g. the Mitsumi does not support controlling the volume, there is only on/off). I recommended compiling boot kernels with the MCDMINI option, which excludes the whole audio stuff and makes a driver that is only half the size of the complete one. You might check whether this is the case for your kernel and might recompile one without this option if it was set. The eject ioctl sends a special command to the drive that is ignored by Mitsumi drives that do not have this feature (it should work on the recent FX001D and FX001DE, but I couldn't verify this yet). : and workman not playing cd's correctly. I've hacked together a program : which verifies the ability to play (although it's a major hack). and it : plays just fine. : : Is there a hacked copy of xcdplayer or workman out therethat works with : the mcd driver? Besides the problem that xcdplayer had to be persuaded to use the right device name and the SCSI ioctl set, this worked with the mcd driver some time ago, but I do not guarantee for any "improvements" that have been introduced since the original version (see also the probing problem). : : Jason Wright : wrightj@bix.com : -- Dr. Holger Veit | INTERNET: Holger.Veit@gmd.de | | / GMD-SET German National Research | Phone: (+49) 2241 14 2448 |__| / Center for Computer Science | Fax: (+49) 2241 14 2342 | | / Schloss Birlinghoven | Had a nightmare yesterday: | |/ 53754 St. Augustin, Germany | My system started up with | ...
