Subject: Can 386bsd v0.1 safely be loaded on top of a working 386bsd v0.0?

I have a working copy of 386bsd v0.0. In the installation notes it says
that one should always run install when installing 386bsd v0.1.
Isn't it possible to unpack all files on a current v0.0 system, compile
a new kernel and go on? It would mean a big gain of time for me, since
I have an ethernet adapter, so I can load all of the files directly from
tape (on another machine on the lan). But the adapter is NOT on the
irq as mentioned in the installation notes....
