Of course, I haven't touched /etc/rc yet, so I'm assuming that however ldconfig is set up from installation is the way it's supposed to be. However, I'm not familiar with ldconfig, so perhaps there is a way of optimizing it. Any clues out there? BTW, somebody asked for hard numbers on these increased times. Here are some examples... FreeBSD 1.0.2 FreeBSD 1.1R ------------- ------------ Compiling: FreeBSD kernel source 20 minutes 1 hour Mtools-2.0.7 5 minutes 12 minutes (same exact source!) Apps: vi /etc/rc.local ~1 second ~3 seconds man telnet ~6 seconds ~15 seconds Also, it's worth mentioning that I'm using the same kernel configuration file. -- Damon Gallaty gt6525c@prism.gatech.edu "A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men..."
