Only one thing was left, I was so close to the finish, I even thought that I am going to go to the bed early today, but... When I finished with extract of the binaries, run the configure ( on the questions about domain name I put something unimaginable), and mv /.profile /.profile.install, and tried to ln /root/.profile /.profile , I discovered that system dosn't have the ln. I didn't understand why and how, but I just cp /root/.profile /.profile and .... typed reboot. The system came up with a lot of complains. swapon : not found starting network hostname : not found starting system loggersyslogd : not found kvm_mkdb : not found dev_mkdb : not found preserving editor files /etc/rc : /usr/libexec/elvispreserve : not found clearing /tmp find : not found standard daemons: update crond/etc/rc : /usr/libexec/crond : not found starting network daemons : routedrouted : not found print erlpd : not found sendmailsendmail : not found inetdinetd : not found name : not found sed : not found starting local daemons: date : not found And then endless init FATAL error: console : Interrupted system call What could it be? I am very new to UNIX. I would appreciate very much , if somebody will help me - I don't have any clues. Thanks, Boris Pitel
