Don't do that.. :-) I'm not sure what effect a /.profile might : have on the boot process, especially the .profile we ship for : installation in root's home directory (/root), but I wouldn't want to : try it! : Boot off the first 2 install floppys again and when it asks you if you want : to install, say `n' - you'll be staring at a "#" prompt. : If you're a SCSI user, type: : mount /dev/sd0a /mnt : rm /mnt/.profile : umount /mnt (may fail, if so don't worry about it) : halt : <remove floppy, reset system> : If you're an IDE user, substitute `wd0a' for the `sd0a' above. : Jordan Thanks, Jordan! I tried to do what you said, unfortunately it didn't help. I even reinstalled all the BSD from the scratch - and this time I didin't play with .profile, but the result was the same! init FATAL error : Console : interrupted system call and this message is repeating endlessly, untill I restart comuter. Observation : When installing the cpio diskette there was a warning - "skippink chunk of junk" or somrthing very similar. When I was doing extract there was another warning/error " Bad CRC .....". I think, it is a last reservation, may be the CD ROM is bad? Boris Pitel.
