We have no problems with USL etc. Well, I certainly wouldn't want to doubt the word of Jesus, but this may be only part of the answer. Certainly, he doesn't say what Lynn told him about the difference between the software on this CD-ROM and 386bsd 0.1 and the latest versions of NetBSD and FreeBSD: I'm sure anybody even considering forking out $40 over the competitor's prices would want to see that. The important things on this CD-ROM, however, and what made me order it *although* I already have the FreeBSD CD-ROM, is that there is a lot of supporting documentation on it. I *could* go and order 30 back issues of Dr. Dobbs, but it's not just simpler with a CD-ROM, it's also cheaper. The fact that I can return it if not satisfied is also definitely a plus (though far from being unique - the FreeBSD CD-ROM also has an unconditional return policy). On the other hand, I very much doubt the accuracy of Lynn's reported statement: - The Dr. Dobbs articles will almost certainly be copyrighted. Could you ask Lynn if this is also included in her statement? (I'd ask her myself, of course, if she weren't in hiding). - If the Jolitzes don't have problems with USL, it's because they've been in hiding, or because USL is now called Novell USG. Everybody else involved with Net/2 derived works *has* had problems with USG, which require them to move to a 4.4BSD base in a relatively short time frame. -- --------------------------------------------- Greg Lehey | Tel: +49-6637-1488 LEMIS, Schellnhausen 2, | Fax: +49-6637-1489 36325 Feldatal, Germany | Mail: grog@lemis.de
