Some sites are: src.doc.ic.ac.uk:/packages/X11/R5contrib/XFree86-full/XFree86-2.1.1/ wcarchive.cdrom.com:/.1/XFree86/XFree86-2.1.1/ (both contain XFree86 compiled for FreeBSD-1.1 whith shared libraries). The latest versions of NetBSD(current) and FreeBSD(1.1 or later) support shared libraries.
