The mcd0 probe on bootup does not seem to recognise a MITSUMI single speed CDROM reader model FX001. I've not made extensive tests under DOS, but booting DOS from a floppy and a CONFIG.SYS with the proper device driver shows a drive at IOA=300, IRQ10 2. I'm testing pppd between two 386BSD machines running FreeBSD1.0 before attempts to use it as a dialup link to my INTERNET service provider. Modems are 4.2bis and run OK with cu from the taylor uucp. The file in /var/log/messages shows a connection made, successful login, and then a quit. The login for test_ppp which is being used has /tmp as directory and runs a shell script containing "pppd /dev/tty02 9600. I'm not out of steam on this one, but if anybody can tell me exactly what to do at each end, I would save some pain and time. John Gabriel (gabriel@interaccess.com)
