Well, many have bought the SMC Western Digital 16 bit they are fast and work.

Well, you know a good example is freebsd.cdrom.com is a 486dx2 66
connected to the internet via a T1. It handles a few users and
100+ ftp connections. I have seen the machine go as high as 180 ftp
users (granted not very fast).

On my previous contract I use FreeBSD for all my e-mail and to chat
with people using vat (visual audio tool) over ip multicasting.

Check out freebsd.cdrom.com:/pub for further info on freebsd and
Walnut Creek Cdrom they also sell freebsd cdrom for $40 with all
the goodies : X, gcc, ftp, slip, etc...

Regards,
	Amancio
