I have a Digital XL-PC with PCI BUS, on board SCSI and CD-ROM and I am quite new to the 'FREE' world. I tried to install the FreeBSD 1.0 from the CD-distribution kit, but when I boot the machine the boot will hang after a while ( I think when 'he' tries to read from the CD, because the actual message is about changing the root device ). I now that the above hardware not is on the positive supported list... So is there a newer version of FreeBSD, which can handle the hardware or do I have to buy another supported SCSI-controller, disable the internal controller, install the FreeBSD and then make a device-driver for the on-board controller etc.. Hope to hear from somebody soon ! Anders Brandt
