It was reported that 32 bit I/O attempts with the existing driver were not reached. The speed throughput of 1040KB/sec was reported for the existing NetBSD driver. There is an effort to create a driver to support the 3C579 card in NetBSD. A driver already exists for the 3C579 card in the commercial BSD/386 OS to take advantage of 32 Bit I/O. One other card type was suggested for a speed inprovement over 3c503 and 3c509 cards. Cards based on the AMD LANCE or compatible line (NE 1500, NE2100, Allied Trellisis 1500) are the speed daemons. A driver for NetBSD comes with TNIC-1500 cards that works with NetBSD (steve@sccsi.com). Speed was reported to be better than the 3C509. Again, thanks to all that responded. -- =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= THE VIEWS EXPRESSED HEREIN ARE MY OWN.
