This generally means that you don't have any slip lines in the kernel.

(Slip == PPP in this case)

This is probably fixed in -current (soon to become 1.1.5).  Bruce Evans
has been making lots of fixes to the sio driver, and hopefully we'll have
more bugs fixed than are added. :-)
