Date: 31 May 1994 07:49:51 GMT Organization: University of Washington, Seattle Lines: 26 Message-ID: <2seq6v$t3i@news.u.washington.edu> NNTP-Posting-Host: stein.u.washington.edu I just wanted to know if the netaudio audio tools and apps can work in a single user, non networked environment. I would like to take advantage of the tools, but am not on a network. Does anyone know how to configure netaudio so that I can run it? I am using the netaudio package from: freebsd.cdrom.com:/pub/FreeBSD/packages-1.1. I am sure that my sound card is set up correctly, as I can do a cat *.au > /dev/audio, and the sound will come out correctly, and clearly. So, I know that my sound card works. Whenever I try to start audemo or something, it keeps saying that it can't access the audio server. However, I don't know what to set the AUDIOSERVER variable to when not on a network. Also, when I try to start the server by invoking: 'au -aa', I get a message that says: PCM device 1 not installed. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help that anyone can give to me. BTW, are there any other sound apps out there that are equivalent to those included in the SB16 package such as the SB16's wave editor for Windows? If there are other tools out there, can anyone give me ftp sites and titles? Thanks again. --Mark Tamola --buckwild@u.washington.edu
