If you are willing to write in "perl" (not a bad language to learn for many
tasks) you might want to try "menu.pl", a full-screen curses-based menu
package. It has the advantage that it is easy to use and already in use at
several sites around the world for this very purpose. The package comes
with demo scripts to get you started. The major disadvantage is that you
have to construct a special version of "perl" called "curseperl" (which is
regular perl linked with your "curses" library). The "curseperl" package is
constructed using the contents of the "usub" directory of the standard
"perl" distribution ("perl" is a Larry Wall product).

The current version of "menu.pl" is version 2.3 and is available in
tar'd/compressed or shar'd distributions via anonymous FTP from
"ftp.iastate.edu" in the directory "pub/perl". Docs and demos are included.
