: If you are willing to write in "perl" (not a bad language to learn for many
: tasks) you might want to try "menu.pl", a full-screen curses-based menu
: package. It has the advantage that it is easy to use and already in use at
: several sites around the world for this very purpose. The package comes
: with demo scripts to get you started. The major disadvantage is that you
: have to construct a special version of "perl" called "curseperl" (which is
: regular perl linked with your "curses" library). The "curseperl" package is
: constructed using the contents of the "usub" directory of the standard
: "perl" distribution ("perl" is a Larry Wall product).

: The current version of "menu.pl" is version 2.3 and is available in
: tar'd/compressed or shar'd distributions via anonymous FTP from
: "ftp.iastate.edu" in the directory "pub/perl". Docs and demos are included.
