I also tried to use my modem (14.4K/fax) and it too hangs the keyboard (after leaving kermit). When I try to launch kermit, I get the following: >kermit Error opening /dev/tty congm: Device not configured C-Kermit 5A(189) 30 June 93, FreeBSD . . . - The .kermrc is as follows: set line /dev/tty02 set speed 9600 I have looked at the FAQ and compiled the kernel with the COM_BIDIR option as well as enabling the bidirectional com port via the rc.local file. If I connect with kermit, I can use the AT command set and the modem seems to respond. When I exit, the system hangs and I need to hard reset the computer. I have also tried to create /dev/cua02 (this wiped out /dev/tty02) without any success. The machine is configured as follows: sio0 - port 3F8 IRQ 4 sio1 - port 2F8 IRQ 3 sio2 - port 3E8 IRQ 5 (the machine runs fine under DOS and I can use the modem). The machine is as follows: 486 DX/2 66 processor AMI bios 2 16540 com ports (1 and 2) 1 14.4K modem (com 3) Future domain SCSI controller Nec 3xi CDROM Maxtor 340s SCSI HD Western Digital 420Mb HD Orchid Ferenheight 1280 VLB Delta monitor Conner Tape Stor 250 Sound Blaster Pro (at IRQ 10) 3 1/2 FDD Any help would be appreciated.
