Hi, everybody!
I'm still exploring the new and beatifull world of BSD.
Spent couple of hours today trying to configure my serial port
for use with modem - in vain!
I have FreeBSD 1.0 on my machine . Under DOS my modem connected to the
COM2: . I added a line in the /etc/remote, which addresses the /dev/tty01
I don't remember the added line exactly) - I also added a line in /etc/phones
with my phone number, and then tried tip <.....> - for about 15 secs nothing
happened, then the message "link down". What was wrong? I honestly tried to
read all FAQs available, but didn't find anything definite about this.
I realize that the question/problem must be very common, but ....
Related question (this one might be not correct):
How can I find the actual mapping between devices in /dev/ and my
physical devices on computer, ex. com1: - tty00 - may be yes, may be no!
Thanks in advance! Any help will be appreciated.
Boris Pitel.

You've got the device name wrong ?, or maybe stty -f /dev/tty.. -clocal ?
