The problem is not in your hardware at all. It is our disc at
fault.

There was a mastering error that caused some corrupted files
in some of the directories (eg /filesys/usr/src/sys/i386/*).
For some of these diretories, you can use the tarred up files
located in the srcdist directory, if you wish to have a work
around.

We have created a brand new one-off which has been sent to
Disctronic today. We should have the new batch in within two
weeks or so.

For anyone else who bought the FreeBSD 1.1 R CDROM directly from
us, please contact us either via E-mail at info@cdrom.com,
or by phone at 1-800-786-9907, 1-510-674-0783, or
1-510-674-0821 (FAX) with your name, address, and phone number,
and that you wish to get a replacement for the FreeBSD 1.1 disc.
If you bought it from one of our distributors, please contact
them for an exchange.

We are very, *very* sorry for such an error on our part. We will
try our hardest to never repeat such a mistakes in the future.
