Message-ID: <dgaCqE010.6Bz@netcom.com> Summary: Is Linux easier to install than FreeBSD 1.1 Keywords: installation, plug and play Organization: NETCOM On-line Communication Services (408 261-4700 guest) Date: Thu, 26 May 1994 01:55:48 GMT Lines: 23 Way back in July of 1992, I recall, I downloaded 386BSD to floppies and attempted to install to my 386. Basically, the system was somewhat unstable, a nightmare to install, and I never did get X to work. I am ready to try again. A friend loaned me his Linux Summer 1994 release CD-ROM. It is very friendly and easy to setup. Has 386BSD evolved to a similar state of plug and play ease of use, at least as far as getting the thing to install? I noticed that Dr. Dobbs advertises 386BSD release 1.0. I assume that it is the same thing I tried to install back in 1992. Is there an easy to install release 1.1 available. I will pay good money for it and recommend it to others if it works as well as Linux seems to. Cheers, Dennis Allard allard@oceanpark.com
