Message-ID: <paleyCqs28E.C0t@netcom.com> Sender: paley@netcom.com (Dan Paley) Organization: NETCOM On-line Communication Services (408 261-4700 guest) Date: Thu, 2 Jun 1994 16:09:50 GMT Lines: 27 Ok, so I've gotten the correct floppies from FreeBSD.cdrom.com, loaded them... followed the install stuff to the letter, but sill cannot finish the installation. I'm getting to the point where FreeBSD unix is trying to self boot off the hard disk. But the process halts stating that there are problems with the rsd0e device and that I should run fsck manually. When I try this it claims that (all) areas are protected and read only. What am I doing wrong? In other words HELP!!! here's the system I'm working with: C & T chip set for 33 Mhz 386 w/64K cache Adaptec 1542A Scsi card Maxtor 350M drive (xt-8380s I think). Tseng 3K video Some Serial/parallel/game card (using 16550 serial devices). I'm trying to install FreeBSD so that it can access the dos partition, so I am using all the defaults it suggests... so what am I missing? --dan paley@netcom.com
