For that matter, I know a number of people in South Africa who run FreeBSD, but who have never posted to any of the BSD newsgroups. I think we don't stand much chance of finding an accurate way of getting stats on the total number of *BSD users. It looks though, like people reading UseNet have responded pretty well to registering on the counter. It's a pity that it is so difficult to get an accurate reflection of the installed base of *BSD.
