Try FreeBSD at freebsd.cdrom.com.  It is worked on and supported by
a dedicated group of developers.  Currently, there is only a i386/i486/Pentium
port -- but there will be more.  It has significant design enhancements
over the Net/2 porting base and is fairly quick and responsive.
I strongly suggest getting a CDROM from somewhere with the FreeBSD/NetBSD/Linux
of your choice, because install scripts are many times provided!!!
