I am trying to install FreeBSD 1.1 on a Pentium EISA + PCI machine. I
have a Buslogic PCI SCSI controller, which works fine. I have
progressed to the point of being able to boot from the hard disk to
single user mode.

However, the kernel does not recognize my ethernet card. It is an
SMC 8010 card, also known as "Elite32C Ultra EISA".

The problem might be at that the card is configured at the incorrect port
number--the EISA configuration program does not provide any way to set
the port number. I assume that it is all automagically taken care of
to not conflict with anything else, but I don't know where it ends up.

Does anyone have any hints toward making this card work with either FreeBSD
or NetBSD? Maybe there is something obvious about EISA configuration
that I am missing?

thanks,
andrew
