I don't really know anything about the Boca 6-port card (I am using their 16-port card, the BB2016, it has the equivalent of 16 16550A's) but perhaps my experiences will be useful to you anyway. I have 6 modems and 5 local terminals connected to my 16-port card at this time. I do alot of uucp transfers (receive and send news feeds) and support random remote users dialing up. Performance is quite good. Uucp CPU usage (per line) appears to be well under 1%. I often have 3 uucp lines running concurrnetly with no noticable performance penalty. Also, I have a small ethernet LAN here at home (consisting of 6 systems) with this system also running slip to a server at work. I am currently running FreeBSD 1.0.2 on this system (with plans to upgrade to 1.1.5 soon). Some other relavent info on my system's configuration is: 486DX2/66 EISA MB, 256kb cache, 32MB RAM, 9 disks (8 are FAST), CDROM, & two tape drives (8mm & QIC525) spread across 3 BusLogic BT-747S EISA SCSI controllers -- Bob Willcox ...!{rutgers|ames}!cs.utexas.edu!uudell!obiwan!bob Phone: 512 258-4224 (home) 512 838-3914 (work)
