NetBSD is up and running just fine after a few little problems. I want to
use my Digiboard 16em card with PORTS 16 module for 16 terminals/dialin
lines. I also have a SMC 8013 EPC Ethernet card which I want to use so that
I can also access the machine from our WfW 3.11 network. Trouble is, when
the Digiboard and Ethernet card are in the machine at the same time all
sorts of random problems occur. Some of these are corrupt filesystems
resulting in the machine refusing to boot, or the CD ROM (NEC CD 84 with
Adaptec 1542CF) not reading properly. One thing which always happens is that
I can't untar packages from the CD while both cards are in.

Either one of these cards works perfectly in the machine alone, but when
the two are together the problems come back. Sounds like the cards conflict
with each other you say? Yes, but...

The Ethernet card is software configurable, for IRQ, I/O address and iomem.
The Digiboard is configurable by dip switch for I/O address, but always
uses IRQ 15. The iomem is set in the kernel config file. I have tried
moving both cards all over memory, but the problem just won't go away. I
don't want to experiment any more since I have now made a lot of changes
to the system - unfortunately I have no tape to back it up yet. Ideas
please anyone? I'm no wizard, but have plenty of books to refer to.
