The first is an IDE with two drives, the second an AHA1542b with a single drive and the third a second IDE with one drive. I configured the second IDE to use the appropriate IRQ and IO and it is probed correct as is the attached drive. But, shortly after the system is about to come up it complaind about an error from wdcontrol. Can someone look at this error and give me aclue as to what it is about. This error appears once and the controller and drive function normally after that. Incidenlty, the controller is a VL IDE controller with no disk caching. I have installed it as the primary IDE controller and haven't gotten any such error. I haven't tried installing my current primary as the secondary to see if the error would still be there. Here is the output from my dmesg: FreeBSD 1.1(Release) (GENERICAH) #8: Sun Jun 5 21:58:42 GMT-0800 1994 root@pcone.watertown.ma:/usr/src/sys/compile/PCONE CPU: i486DX (486-class CPU) real memory = 16384000 (4000 pages) avail memory = 15101952 (3687 pages) using 348 buffers containing 2854912 bytes of memory Probing for devices on the ISA bus: sc0 at 0x60-0x6f irq 1 on motherboard sc0: VGA color <8 virtual consoles> sio0 at 0x3f8-0x3ff irq 4 on isa sio0: type 16450 sio1 at 0x2f8-0x2ff irq 3 on isa sio1: type 16550A sio2 at 0x3e8-0x3ef irq 5 on isa sio2: type 16550A lpa0 at 0x378-0x37f on isa fdc0 at 0x3f0-0x3f7 irq 6 drq 2 on isa fdc0: [0: fd0: 1.44MB 3.5in] wdc0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7 irq 14 on isa wdc0: unit 0 (wd0): <ST1144AT> wd0: 124MB (255255 total sec), 1001 cyl, 15 head, 17 sec, bytes/sec 512 wdc0: unit 1 (wd1): <Maxtor 7345 AT> wd1: 329MB (675450 total sec), 790 cyl, 15 head, 57 sec, bytes/sec 512 wdc1 at 0x170-0x177 irq 15 on isa wdc1: unit 0 (wd2): <WDC AC280M> wd2: 81MB (166600 total sec), 980 cyl, 10 head, 17 sec, bytes/sec 512 aha0: reading board settings, dma=6 int=11 aha0 at 0x330-0x333 irq 11 drq 6 on isa aha0 targ 0 lun 0: type 0(direct) fixed SCSI1 aha0 targ 0 lun 0: <MAXTOR LXT-213S 4.20> sd0: 202MB (415436 total sec), 1310 cyl, 7 head, 45 sec, bytes/sec 512 ed0 at 0x280-0x29f irq 9 maddr 0xd8000 msize 8192 on isa ed0: address 00:00:c0:f6:29:1c, type WD8003EB (8 bit) npx0 on motherboard snd2 at 0x220 irq 10 drq 1 on isa snd2: <SoundBlaster Pro 3.1> MIDI: Successfully attached ProAudioSpectrum MV101 biomask c840 ttymask 23a netmask 23a wd2d: wdcontrol: wdcommand failed reading fsbn 0 (wd2 bn 0; cn 0 tn 0 sn 0) wd2: status ff<busy,rdy,wrtflt,seekdone,drq,ecc_cor,index,err> error 0 -- *** James Tsillas jtsilla@ccs.neu.edu *** *** Work: (508)898-2800, Home: (617)924-3908 *** *** "He is after me.
