You can try FreeBSD or NetBSD. FreeBSD is available in full release form from freebsd.cdrom.com, with many of its recent extensions. The latest greatest last version of the Net/2 code base will be coming out in a week for ftp. FreeBSD is currently highly tuned for I386 and has performance extensions in its machine independent portions too. (But no ports are currently available except for the I386.) NetBSD in its -current form is a little harder to set-up, but NetBSD 0.9 (an earlier version) is available. John dyson@implode.root.com (FreeBSD core team member)
