Well, I kind of solved the problem...
I got tired of slip and its limitations, so I used ppp instead. It works
like a charm. The only thing now is, that I would like it to manage the
link automagically, it's called "demand ppp" isn't it?

I have an old sysV.2 box (from 1984) that does that with slip :-) and I'd
really like my newer boxes be able to handle ppp in the same way...

Thanks, everyone who helped with the slip problem!

C'ya,

	Paul.
