As I mentioned in my original posting, Juergen Fey is a friend of the Jolitz', which puts him in somewhat exclusive company. In the 1991/1992 timeframe, as the editor of UNIXMagazin, he published a whole lot of statements about 386bsd which in my considered opinion were inflammatory nonsense. It's not completely clear what his job is now: he is on the editorial staff of iX magazine, but still lives in Muenchen (400 miles from iX in Hannover, and the only non-local staff member), and iX doesn't seem to be the only thing he does. Maybe we'll get a response from him in this newsgroup. iX is, (again in my considered opinion) is only slightly more professional than UNIXmagazin. I used to write technical articles for them, and gave it up because it seemed to be a perpetual fight to get them to print an objective viewpoint: they kept changing my texts to reflect what is presumably their political direction. On the other hand, (and to show that I don't think *every* magazine is bad) c't magazine is one of the best magazines I have seen around. Sure, they make mistakes (like printing this article), but you should bear in mind that they are primarily a single-user machine magazine with a significant hardware hacking direction. They are publishing more and more stuff about UNIX, though, which is surprising, considering that iX is a sister publication and shares premises with them. I suspect that they printed this article because they didn't know any better.
