Yeah ! Using tbl xxx.1 | groff -Tps -man > xxx.1.PS you can create 
printed manual pages in "Postscript quality".

If you don't have a postscript printer, then use gs (ghostscript)
as a filter.

Never ever saw nicer manpages ;-) (ok, Solaris AnswerBook :)
