I have PCMCIA support up and running for EThernet & Megahertz Modem for NetBSD-current
(well a month old but going to current over the weekend I hope).
I've send  the first release to someone working on FreeBSD. 
I'll send out the actual version (now working with Megahertz modems) today.

Both, you have to configure the card and after that the normal driver do the
work.

I guess so, NetBSD can, I'm using it right now ... you can get the source 
and the rest is up to you, or wait  until someone else has finished his port.
