Help!
After much hairpulling and eyegouging, I still haven't got my network or X
up on my freeBSD 1.02ish machine.(dec. 1993 release on CDROM). I have
a 486/33SX with 16meg of ram, 420 meg IDE as Drive C, Toshiba 538B 1.2 gig as
drive D(on an Adaptec 1542C scsi card). I am also using an NEC 3x cd rom and
a 1 meg Diamond stealth card. The network card is an NE2000 clone (Accton).
The X starts to start (flashes the screen 4 times) and then dies with a
"probable Kill client".
The network cannot ping any of my other machines or even itself unless I
ifconfig it from the command line, and then only itself. I have modified
the files (I think) that are relevant to this, but I am not sure. I am a
DOS/NOVELL/OS2/Windows/NT junky and haven't run any of the PC flavors of unix
before, with only a bit of background in Solaris.
What are all of the files I need to modify for X and the network. And if
possible, what is the Xconfig file for a microsoft mouse and an S3 1 meg
video card with a 101 AT keyboard.
Any help at all would be apprecciated.
thanx
jeff
