Furthermore I read an article where somebody said, that in the Adaptec Setup (press CNTL-A on startup) one switch has to be modified. Something with connect/disconnect ... don't know exactly ... But perhaps this is a good hint or a new starting point for you. Then double check termination on the CD-Rom itself.
