Don't know the releases of the commercial BSD. But what are you speaking
of exactly ? BSD/386 or FreeBSD 1.1 ?

If you speak of FreeBSD-1.1 I advice you to buy the FreeBSD 1.1 CD-Rom
from Walnut creeck. There are many binaries and (for FreeBSD) *ported*
sources included. The ported software should compile out of the box.

Concerning the list: I think creating such a list is nonsense since
nearly every program has to be modified slightly to suit
either your flavour of unix or your local configuration.

What you need is a list of ported software or where you can get binaries
that are ready to run. But please don't expect such *simplicity* from
unix *sources*. That's not realistic I think !
