Message-ID: <1994Jun10.103850.26084@news.uit.no> Date: Fri, 10 Jun 1994 10:38:50 GMT Organization: University of Tromsų, Norway Lines: 31 I've now, after som forth and back, managed to get FreeBSD 1.1.0R to recognize my SoundBlaster 16 card upon booting. However, playing .au files does not seem to work (i.e. 'cat foo.au >/dev/audio'). Now, /dev/MAKEDEV says about the /dev/audio device 'Not fully implemented' - does this mean 'forgeddit', or 'go to -current', or may I have missed some signs while configuring the system? I basically configured and rebuilt the kernel ( device snd2 at isa? port 0x240 irq 7 drq 7 vector sbintr not default setup, but it's recognized snd2 at 0x240 irq 7 drq 7 on isa snd2: <SoundBlaster Pro 4.5> eventhough it also says MIDI: Successfully attached ProAudioSpectrum MV101 ) and made the device files ('/dev/MAKEDEV' snd). I've also fetched 'xmix' from freebsd.cdrom.com to see if the volume was turned off - 'xmix' works (I can hear the noise of my tuner getting louder -etc), but still no (audible) recording or playing back on the /dev/audio device. Is anyone else doing this on FreeBSD 1.1.0? Suggestions welcome, I'm loosing out on a lot of ITR at the time being... Have a nice day. -- /// Thomas Stranden{\ae}s /// sometimes I am, sometimes I think /// /// System Administrator /// thostr@autotelia.isv.uit.no ///
