FIRST CALL FOR VOTES (of 2)
           unmoderated group comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine

Newsgroups line:
comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine A free MS-Windows emulator under X.

Votes must be received by 23:59:59 UTC, 5 July 1994.

This CFV will also be sent to wine-users@amscons.com.

This vote is being conducted by a neutral third party. For voting
questions and information contact Dave Cornejo <dave@dogwood.com>.
For questions about the proposed group contact Thomas Koenig
<ig25@rz.uni-karlsruhe.de>.

CHARTER

Announcements and discussion about Wine, a free MS-Windows API
emulator which will, once it is completed, enable Windows binaries to
run under X. Comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine will serve as a place for
developers to discuss Wine, and for minor announcements. Major
announcements will be crossposted to other appropriate groups, such as
comp.os.linux.announce, comp.windows.x.announce and
comp.emulators.announce.

Bug reports should be sent to wine-bugs@aris.com; they will be forwarded
to the newsgroup. Also, mail sent to wine-developers@aris.com, the
developers' mailing list, will be forwarded there.

RATIONALE:

The goal of the Wine project is to write a complete emulation of the
MS-Windows API which will enable to run programs written for Windows to
run under any 386 - based Unix running X. All the Windows API calls should
be translated into Xlib calls and thus run in full 32-bit mode.

There is a large developer and interest base, currenty served by a
mailling list with more than 700 subscribers, some of which are
local mail exploders or news-to-mail gateways themselves.

The original proposal, in <2qodhv$47d@rodan.UU.NET>, was for
comp.windows.wine.{announce,bugs,misc}. Discussion on news.groups has
shown that the proposed group would be more appropriate under
comp.emulators.ms-windows, and that, at present, it is not thought
that more than one group will be needed. An updated RfD,
<2rj0cq$b5c@rodan.UU.NET>, for comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine, was met
with widespread acceptance on news.groups.
