Date: 24 Jun 1994 04:22:09 GMT Organization: Computing Services Division, University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Lines: 23 Message-ID: <2udn1hINN6oq@uwm.edu> References: <2tok9m$63t@panix3.panix.com> <2ts321$2u4@knobel.knirsch.de> NNTP-Posting-Host: 129.89.7.4 I was just wondering if there are any plans on supporting the Adaptec SCSI-II chip of the Soundblaster 16 SCSI-II. Supposedly it is a 154X and 174X compatable chip made BY Adaptec, so there shouldnt be many/any problems with it. The only thing I can see is that the SB16 is hardware configured for 340H base address, where FreeBSD is looking for the 154X card at 330H ( which happens to be the MPU401-UART base) The chip can be set to IRQ 11 and DMA 5, like the instal_guide says its looking for. Or, is there/could there be a way of makeing FreeBSD look for the chip at 340H and fool it? Just wondering - I like the Sb16 for my DOS uses, and I really don't want to buy another $200.00 interface card and waste another card slot if I don;t hafta! :) Thanks! -- / /| \ O For all you ORIGIN needs, | \`o.O' | Ack!
