Keep in mind that I'm not part of the core team and as such I cannot speak for them but I can say as much: 1.1.5 will be the last release based of Net/2 and will be the last encumbered release of FreeBSD. They got permission from USL to build that last release with all the files encumbered in source form (not in binary .o files like BSDI). FreeBSD 2.x will be based of 4.4BSD-Lite. >What is the release date? (whatever time frame someone can offer, I'm >not asking for a hard date...) 1.1.5 alpha is being built just now so expect 1.1.5 to hit the streets at the end of the month [roughly].
