Just a quick Q here: : Does anyone know where I can find a utility that will grab a portion of an : Xfree (on a 386bsd system) screen that I specify and save it as a : postscript file? : Thanks very much for any help; it is *much* appreciated! : -- : Ross Hayden, Systems Programmer ross@ndlc.occ.uky.edu : The National Distance Learning Center Ross: There's a package called ImageMagick which includes a utility called 'import' that will do what you need. You also need to have GhostScript installed for this to work. GhostScript has already been 'ported' to FreeBSD (it compiles without change, if you want to build it yourself) and binaries are available at freebsd.cdrom.com and the usual mirrors. I don't think ImageMagick is there, though, so you will have to compile it yourself. However, I was able to build it on FreeBSD 1.1 with no problems, so hopefully this shouldn't cause you too much trouble. ImageMagick is available from ftp.x.org under /contrib, as well as plenty of mirror sites, I'm sure. ImageMagick has a lot more in it than just the 'import' utility: check it out. (One quick note: ImageMagick uses freely and *seperately* available libraries for TIFF, JPEG and XPM image support. You'll have to grab all of them from their various sites if you want to use them. The ImageMagick README will tell you exactly what you need and where to get them should you decide that you want them.) Hope this helps. -Bill _ /\ _ Join the / \_/\_/ \_/\_/ \ .----.
